Women were treated with the least amount of respect of anyone in Auschwitz. They were often raped, discriminated, or even beaten by the guards. Here is a graphic that contains more facts about how women were treated in Auschwitz.
Food
Women, although mistreated greatly in other ways, got the same meals as gown men: a liter of watery soup, sometimes with vegetable skins in it, and a cup of tea. Rarely, they were given a small piece of cheese or some burnt bread crusts. Due to the lack of substantial meals, many women died, since they weren't as strong and healthy as the men. However, if a woman was in a relationship with a soldier or commander, they could often get more food from them and were usually more nutritious than everybody else. The image to the left is one woman prisoner's interpretation of when food was being handed out: everyone is trying to get more.
Work
There were many different jobs women could work at Auschwitz, including nurses, cooks, and cleaners. Also, women could pack and ship parts needed to build tanks. If they were lucky, the women could label boxes, the easiest job of them all. These women were often in better physical shape and were fed slightly better than other women. They also had the luxury of being able to do something with their lives, whereas other women sat and waited for their death.
